The Advantages of the Fabric Planter
Air Root Pruning
The primary advantage of the GeoPlanter and GeoPot is its air pruning capability. With traditional plant containers and wooden planters, the plant's roots will reach the edge of the container and be force to circle the container in search of a friendlier environment. As these roots circle, minimal lateral branching will occur resulting in these large roots to be root bound or girdle the plant. In comparison using the GeoPlanter and GeoPot Indoor plant pots, when the plant roots reach the container's edge its root tips are trapped by the porous fabric and Air Pruned Forcing Lateral Branching of Desired Fibrous Roots. These fibrous roots are More Productive in the Uptake of Water and Nutrient, resulting in a more vigorous and healthy plant. The GeoPlanter and GeoPot utilize the entire root zone, filling the container with hundreds of fine fibrous roots that Support Optimum Plant Growth.
Container Temperature Control
The GeoPlanter's unique Porous Fabric Allows Airflow to Penetrate the Fabric Planter Wall, keeping it cool when exposed to direct sun on hot summer days. According to a study done by Catherine A. Neal at the University of New Hampshire, Dept. of Plant Biology:
"In comparison to standard black plastic nursery pots, above ground fabric containers reduce maximum root zone temperatures through evaporative cooling and reduced absorption of solar radiation. Plants grown in fabric containers also have improved root structure as a result of air root pruning."
Pocket planting
The sides of the GeoPlanter can be planted with plants that like to hang like strawberries. Using a razor blade, make a 3" to 5" horizontal slit in the sidewall of the fabric planter below the soil level. The lower portion of the slice creates the pocket for planting. The plants can be planted directly into the pocket or use our 2" or 4" net pots to insert your plants into the pocket.
Portability
The GeoPlanter is Conveniently Packaged to Fit in the Trunk of Your Car. The GeoPlanter and GeoPot can be emptied at the end of the season and folded up to store till the next year.
